Description

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter for the potato top (optional)
  • Olive oil for the pan (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until combined.
  3. Form the mixture into 6-8 even patties.
  4. Place the patties in a baking dish, leaving space between them.
  5. Pour beef broth over the patties.
  6. Spread mashed potatoes on top of the patties.
  7. If desired, sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  9. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Let it rest a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, you can incorporate mushrooms or use turkey instead of beef. Adjust seasoning on mashed potatoes if using leftovers.
