Beef and Bowtie Pasta with Alfredo Sauce

  • Author: Emily Hodges
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 1x

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 12 oz bowtie pasta (farfalle)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Step-by-Step Directions:

Step 1: Cook the Pasta
Start by cooking the bowtie pasta in a large pot of salted water according to the package instructions. Once the pasta is al dente, drain it and set it aside. Make sure to reserve about a cup of pasta water – this will help you adjust the consistency of the Alfredo sauce later if needed.

Step 2: Cook the Ground Beef
While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef to the skillet and break it up into smaller pieces with a spoon. Cook the beef for about 6-7 minutes, or until it’s browned and cooked through. Once cooked, drain any excess fat from the skillet and discard it.

Step 3: Add Garlic and Simmer the Beef Broth
Next, add the minced garlic to the skillet with the beef and sauté it for 1-2 minutes, or until the garlic becomes fragrant. Then pour in the beef broth, stirring to combine, and bring the mixture to a simmer. Allow it to cook for 3-4 minutes to let the flavors meld together.

Step 4: Create the Alfredo Sauce
Reduce the heat to medium-low and pour in the heavy cream. Stir everything together and let it simmer for another 4-5 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly. As the sauce simmers, be sure to stir occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the skillet.

Step 5: Add the Cheese
Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and shredded mozzarella cheese. Keep stirring until both cheeses have completely melted into the sauce, creating a smooth, creamy texture. The Alfredo sauce should be thick and velvety at this point. If you prefer a thinner sauce, you can add a bit of the reserved pasta water to loosen it up.

Step 6: Combine the Pasta and Sauce
Once the sauce is ready, add the cooked bowtie pasta to the skillet. Toss the pasta gently with the sauce, making sure each piece is coated evenly. If the sauce is too thick, you can add a bit more pasta water to achieve your desired consistency.

Step 7: Season and Serve
Sprinkle the Italian seasoning over the pasta and season with salt and pepper to taste. Give everything a final stir to ensure the flavors are well-distributed. Serve the pasta hot, garnished with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color and freshness.
