Description

A quick and comforting beef stir-fry featuring tender beef, crisp vegetables, and a glossy soy sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef, sliced thinly
  • 2 cups mixed vegetables (like bell peppers, broccoli, and snap peas)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Rice or noodles for serving
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional for a glossy sauce)
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil (to finish)
  • A pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  2. Add the sliced beef in a single layer and let it sear for a few seconds before stirring. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until browned and just cooked through.
  3. Push the beef to the side, add the minced garlic and ginger, and stir-fry for about a minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the mixed vegetables, stir-frying for 4 to 5 minutes until tender but still crisp.
  5. Return the beef to the pan, pour in the soy sauce, and stir to coat. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. If desired, mix cornstarch with water and add to thicken the sauce.
  7. Serve hot over rice or noodles, finishing with a drizzle of sesame oil.

Notes

Customize with different proteins or vegetables as per your preference. Leftovers reheat well in a skillet.
