- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheese (Cheddar or Gruyère)
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a heavy skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, sauté until translucent and soft, about 3 to 5 minutes.
- Butter your baking dish and layer the potatoes, seasoning each layer with salt and pepper, and adding sautéed onions and garlic.
- Pour the heavy cream over the layered potatoes.
- Sprinkle cheese on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until top is golden and bubbly.
- Let rest for a few minutes, then garnish with parsley before serving.
