- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until translucent.
- Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
- Pour in the diced tomatoes along with their juices; bring to a gentle simmer.
- Stir in heavy cream and dried basil, mixing until combined.
- Add pasta to the pot, stirring gently to coat in the sauce.
- Cover and let simmer according to pasta package instructions until al dente.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve with grated Parmesan on top.
Notes
For extra silkiness, add a pat of butter or a splash of reserved pasta cooking water. Serve with a lemon wedge for added zest.
