Ingredients

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  3. Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
  4. Pour in the diced tomatoes along with their juices; bring to a gentle simmer.
  5. Stir in heavy cream and dried basil, mixing until combined.
  6. Add pasta to the pot, stirring gently to coat in the sauce.
  7. Cover and let simmer according to pasta package instructions until al dente.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve with grated Parmesan on top.

Notes

For extra silkiness, add a pat of butter or a splash of reserved pasta cooking water. Serve with a lemon wedge for added zest.
