Garlic Butter Steak Bites and Smashed Potatoes

Description

Tender steak bites seared in garlic butter paired with crispy smashed potatoes for a hearty comfort food meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp butter, divided
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1.5 lbs (700 g) baby potatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh chives or parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and add the baby potatoes. Boil until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Drain the potatoes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Gently press each potato until slightly flattened.
  3. Drizzle the potatoes with olive oil, melted butter, minced garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper. Roast for 20-25 minutes until golden and crispy.
  4. While the potatoes roast, heat 1 tbsp of olive oil and 1 tbsp of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Season steak bites with salt and pepper. Cook in single layer for 2-3 minutes per side until browned.
  6. Remove steak bites; in the same skillet, add remaining butter and minced garlic. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  7. Return steak bites to skillet and toss to coat in the garlic butter sauce. Sprinkle with fresh parsley.
  8. Plate the crispy smashed potatoes with the garlic butter steak bites on top, garnish, and serve hot.

Notes

For extra crispy potatoes, broil for the last 2-3 minutes. Let steak rest for a couple of minutes before serving.
