Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix ground beef, diced onion, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Form into 4–5 oval patties.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and sear patties for 3–4 minutes per side until browned.
  3. Remove patties and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt butter and add sliced onions. Cook for 5–7 minutes until soft and golden.
  5. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  6. Stir in flour to coat the onions and cook for 1–2 minutes.
  7. Slowly pour in beef broth while whisking until smooth.
  8. Add Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer until slightly thickened.
  9. Nestle the hamburger steaks back into the gravy. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes, until patties are cooked through.
  10. Garnish with parsley if desired and serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.

Serve with fresh vegetables and crusty bread for a complete meal.
