Description

A comforting and hearty lasagna filled with layers of meat, creamy cheeses, and rich marinara sauce, perfect for family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 24 ounces marinara sauce
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the marinara sauce and let it simmer.
  5. In a bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  6. Start layering in a 9×13 inch baking dish: meat sauce, lasagna noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat and finish with a topping of mozzarella and Parmesan.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes before serving; garnish with fresh basil if desired.

Notes

Ensure the noodles are slightly undercooked as they will continue to cook in the oven. Fresh mozzarella is recommended for best texture.
