- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 24 ounces marinara sauce
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 3 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until fragrant.
- Stir in the marinara sauce and let it simmer.
- In a bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Start layering in a 9×13 inch baking dish: meat sauce, lasagna noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat and finish with a topping of mozzarella and Parmesan.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving; garnish with fresh basil if desired.
Notes
Ensure the noodles are slightly undercooked as they will continue to cook in the oven. Fresh mozzarella is recommended for best texture.
