Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tin with colorful cupcake liners.
- In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk well.
- Add softened butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and buttermilk to the bowl, mixing until smooth.
- Divide the batter evenly into two bowls. Add red food coloring to one bowl and mix well.
- Alternately spoon red and vanilla batter into cupcake liners to create a swirl effect.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick.
- Allow cupcakes to cool completely in the tin, then transfer to a wire rack.
- For frosting, beat together powdered sugar and softened butter. Add vanilla and heavy cream to reach desired consistency.
- Using piping bags with a star tip, frost cooled cupcakes with the red and white swirl. Enjoy!
