Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium head of cabbage, chopped
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Warm your skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil until it shimmers.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic, stirring frequently until the onions turn translucent and soft, about 2-3 minutes.
- Push the onion and garlic to the side and add the ground beef, breaking it apart and letting it brown for about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the chopped cabbage until coated in oil and beef juices.
- Sprinkle in cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper, mixing thoroughly.
- Cook until the cabbage softens and begins to caramelize at the edges, about 10-15 minutes.
- Taste and adjust seasoning, adding broth or water if the pan gets dry. Serve hot.
Notes
For added flavor, consider using ground pork or turkey, or stir in a tablespoon of soy sauce and brown sugar for an umami twist. Feel free to add toppings like parsley or a fried egg for extra richness.
