A comforting and easy method for roasting a whole turkey that yields juicy meat and golden skin, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 whole turkey (1214 lbs)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 onion, quartered

  2. Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  3. Rub the olive oil all over the turkey and season generously with salt and pepper.
  4. Stuff the cavity with onion, apple, and fresh herbs.
  5. Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a roasting pan.
  6. Pour the chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.
  7. Roast in the preheated oven, basting every 30 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C), about 2.5 to 3 hours.

Notes

You can add flavor variations by using citrus, garlic butter, or spiced rub. Allow the turkey to thaw completely before roasting.
