Description

A flavorful chicken dish with a sticky honey glaze, enhanced by pepper for a sweet and spicy kick.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs if preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper (more to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (adjust for desired spice level)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken breasts dry with a paper towel and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat and add the chicken breasts.
  3. Cook the chicken for 5-6 minutes per side until cooked through and golden brown. Remove from the pan.
  4. In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and combine honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir and let simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Return chicken to the skillet, spoon sauce over top and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  6. If desired, drizzle with lemon juice and garnish before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider marinating the chicken in half of the sauce for 30 minutes before cooking.
