Description

Savory Thai Basil Beef Rolls wrapped in rice paper, filled with ground beef and fresh basil, perfect for a quick dinner or an elegant appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz ground beef
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 8 rice paper wrappers
  • 1 red chili, sliced (optional)
  • Lettuce leaves (for serving)
  • Dipping sauce (such as hoisin or peanut sauce)

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it up as it cooks, until fully cooked and brown (about 5-7 minutes).
  2. Lower the heat, add minced garlic, soy sauce, fish sauce, sugar, and optional red chili. Stir for another couple of minutes until the garlic is fragrant.
  3. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
  4. Prepare a shallow dish with warm water. Soak one rice paper wrapper for about 30 seconds until pliable.
  5. Lay the wrapper flat, place a few basil leaves on the lower third, and add a spoonful of the beef mixture.
  6. Roll the wrapper tightly from the bottom up, tucking in the sides as you go.
  7. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling, stacking the rolls on a platter.
  8. Serve with lettuce leaves and a dipping sauce of your choice.

Notes

Use a damp towel to cover assembled rolls to prevent drying out. You can also tweak the filling with other proteins or vegetables according to preference.
