Description
A comforting baked spaghetti casserole with cream cheese, ground beef, and melted cheese, perfect for family dinners or potlucks.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tbsp. olive oil
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced (about 1 cup)
- 2 lb. 85% lean ground beef
- 2 tsp. minced garlic
- 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp. kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
- 1 jar marinara or spaghetti sauce (32 oz.)
- 1/2 cup low-sodium beef broth
- 8 oz. full-fat cream cheese, softened and cubed
- 1 lb. dry spaghetti noodles
- 1 1/2 cups shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese, divided
- 1/3 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and coat a 9-by-13-inch baking dish with 1 tsp. of olive oil.
- Heat the remaining olive oil in a deep 12-inch skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook for 4 to 5 minutes until softened.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, break it into small crumbles, and cook for 8 to 10 minutes until no pink remains.
- Drain the excess fat, return the skillet to medium-low heat, and stir in the minced garlic, Italian seasoning, kosher salt, and black pepper for 30 to 60 seconds.
- Pour in the marinara and beef broth, add the cream cheese, and stir over medium-low heat for 4 to 6 minutes until melted and smooth.
- Boil water in a large pot, add spaghetti, and cook for about 2 minutes less than al dente. Drain well.
- Combine the drained spaghetti in a mixing bowl with the creamy meat sauce, 3/4 cup mozzarella, and 1 tbsp. parsley. Toss gently.
- Transfer the spaghetti mixture to the prepared baking dish, spread evenly, and sprinkle with remaining mozzarella and all Parmesan.
- Bake uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes until edges bubble and cheese is melted.
- Rest for 5 minutes, garnish with remaining parsley, and serve.
