Description
A rich and comforting creamy garlic butter beef and mushroom stroganoff served over egg noodles, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 lbs ground beef
- 12 oz wide egg noodles
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, divided
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 8 oz cremini mushrooms, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Begin by cooking the egg noodles in salted water according to package instructions until tender. Drain and toss with 1 tablespoon of butter to prevent sticking. Set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and allow it to brown deeply, achieving crispy edges.
- Season the beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Once browned, transfer the meat to a plate and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the diced onion and cook for about 3 minutes until softened.
- Then, add the sliced mushrooms, allowing them to brown undisturbed for 3 minutes. Stir and continue cooking until tender and caramelized.
- Finally, add minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
- Sprinkle the flour over the mushroom mixture and stir for 1 minute to cook the raw flour.
- Gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring to incorporate. Add Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard, then lower the heat and let simmer for about 3 to 4 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Reduce the heat to low and stir in the sour cream and heavy cream until smooth, being careful not to boil the mixture.
- Add the Parmesan cheese, stirring until melted and combined.
- Return the browned beef to the skillet and gently stir to coat it in the sauce.
- Add the cooked egg noodles and toss everything together until the noodles are well coated in the creamy stroganoff sauce.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley for a touch of color and freshness.
