Description

A creamy and flavorful pasta dish combining garlic butter and hearty beef, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz linguine
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup broth (chicken or beef)
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tbsp butter, optional for finishing
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Boil the linguine: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the linguine and cook until tender but still has a slight bite. Drain and set aside.
  2. Brown the beef: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks. Allow some pieces to sit briefly to develop a rich color, seasoning lightly with salt and black pepper. Once browned, transfer the beef to a plate.
  3. Sauté the onion: Lower the heat to medium, adding butter to the same skillet. Stir in the diced onion and cook until softened and lightly golden.
  4. Add aromatics: Add minced garlic, oregano, and garlic powder to the skillet, stirring everything together for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Incorporate flour: Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir well, allowing it to blend into the butter and cook for about one minute.
  6. Create the sauce: Slowly pour in the broth while stirring, then add the heavy cream. Let the mixture simmer gently until the sauce thickens and becomes smooth.
  7. Melt the cheeses: Gradually add the cheddar, Parmesan, and mozzarella into the sauce, stirring until fully melted and the sauce turns thick and glossy.
  8. Combine beef and sauce: Return the cooked beef to the skillet, mixing until the beef is coated in the creamy sauce.
  9. Toss in linguine: Add the cooked linguine to the skillet and toss gently until every strand is covered with the cheesy sauce.
  10. Finish and serve: Remove from heat and stir in the extra butter for an added richness if desired. Finish with chopped parsley and serve hot.

Notes

This dish is adaptable; feel free to swap out the ground beef for turkey or add vegetables like spinach.
