Description

A savory and indulgent seafood dip featuring shrimp, crab, and spinach, perfect for sharing at gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ pound raw medium shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped into ½-inch pieces
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt, divided
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 cups lightly packed fresh spinach, chopped
  • 8 ounces full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • ½ pound lump crab meat, drained and picked over for shells
  • ½ cup shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese, divided
  • ¼ cup finely grated Parmesan cheese, divided
  • 8 ounces sturdy tortilla chips
  • 8 ounces sturdy crackers
  • 1 small baguette, cut into ½-inch slices and toasted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a 1½-quart baking dish or 9-inch pie plate.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 to 60 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add the chopped shrimp, kosher salt, and black pepper. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until most shrimp turn pink and opaque.
  4. Add the chopped spinach to the skillet and cook for about 2 minutes until wilted. Remove from heat and cool for 5 minutes.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, Old Bay seasoning, lemon juice, and remaining salt. Mix until smooth, then stir in ¼ cup mozzarella and 2 tablespoons Parmesan.
  6. Gently fold in the crab and cooled shrimp-spinach mixture into the cream cheese base.
  7. Spread the dip evenly in the baking dish. Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
  8. Bake uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes until bubbling and the top is lightly golden.
  9. Rest for 5 minutes before serving warm with tortilla chips, crackers, and toasted baguette slices.

Notes

For best results, control moisture and avoid overcooking the seafood.
