A lighter, air-fried take on the classic chicken parmesan with a crunchy breadcrumb crust and melty cheese.

- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Cooking spray or olive oil for spraying
- 1 large egg or 1/4 cup milk (for binder, optional)
- A splash of olive oil (for breadcrumbs, optional)
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Dip each chicken breast into the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring it’s well-coated.
- Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and place the coated chicken breasts inside.
- Air fry the chicken for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- During the last 3 minutes, top each breast with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.
- Cook until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil if desired.
Notes
Let the chicken rest before slicing. Serve with spaghetti, roasted vegetables, or garlic bread.
