Description

A lighter, air-fried take on the classic chicken parmesan with a crunchy breadcrumb crust and melty cheese.


Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Cooking spray or olive oil for spraying
  • 1 large egg or 1/4 cup milk (for binder, optional)
  • A splash of olive oil (for breadcrumbs, optional)
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dip each chicken breast into the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring it’s well-coated.
  4. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and place the coated chicken breasts inside.
  5. Air fry the chicken for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  6. During the last 3 minutes, top each breast with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.
  7. Cook until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil if desired.

Notes

Let the chicken rest before slicing. Serve with spaghetti, roasted vegetables, or garlic bread.
