Description

A creamy combination of juicy beef, tender pasta, and bubbling cheddar sauce, this garlic butter steak bite mac & cheese is the perfect comfort food for busy nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz elbow macaroni
  • 1 lb sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions until al dente, usually 7 to 9 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  2. While the pasta cooks, pat the sirloin pieces thoroughly dry and season them with salt and pepper. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter.
  3. Add the steak bites in one uncrowded layer and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side until browned. Transfer the steak to a clean plate.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium and melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter in the same pan. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring until fragrant.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream, milk, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  6. Gradually add the cheddar and mozzarella, stirring until melted into a glossy sauce.
  7. Add the drained macaroni and fold gently until evenly coated. If too thick, stir in additional milk.
  8. Return the steak bites and juices to the skillet. Mix gently and warm everything for 1 to 2 minutes.
  9. Taste and adjust seasoning as necessary. Garnish with parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

For a lighter version, replace heavy cream with evaporated milk.
