Ingredients

- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat and sauté the onions until translucent.
- Stir in the heavy cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper (and thyme if using) and simmer until thickened.
- Layer sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish, pouring a bit of the cream mixture over each layer.
- Pour the remaining cream mixture over the top and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden brown and the potatoes are tender.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For added flavor, try different cheeses or herbs. This recipe is versatile and can easily accommodate additional vegetables.
